Kindzmarauli
2002
Demi-sec red
Color: Dense Ruby throughout with a darker maroon undertone
Body: medium
Flavors: Dark, ripe raspberry with
herbal tones. Sweetness is definitely there, but not
the dominating note. Kindzmarauli has a rich ripe berry subtleness that unfolds
amidst unexpected traces of fresh herbs.
Sommolier’s Notes:
“Dense raspberry nose…has scents that are usually related to lighter wines,
but has more richness and more vibrance. Nose also
has earthy, herbal notes under the fruit…very slight.
Front and back palate are lightly sweet without being heavy and the
midpalate maintains dryness.”
Recommendations:
Great as a sipping wine or a dessert wine. Because
it is a rank red, the wine pairs well with chocolate as part of a cheese plate
or as part of the dessert’s ingredients.
Kindzmarauli is unique in that the wine is able to match and not over power the
chocolate and vice versa. Many reds are too dry or
too heavily sweet and this wine tempers both just enough to make it much more
versatile and use friendly. Kindzmarauli is great for the aspiring gourmet…a fun
wine to experience with new food pairings. Works
well with a simply prepared meat dish like grilled pork, or salty cheese course
(think classic port pairings…stilton, bleus).
